While some women are dissatisfied with their naturally small breasts, others feel their breasts have lost volume and shape over time. Having breasts that lack attractive shape and volume can make patients feel self-conscious about their appearance. Breast augmentation (mammaplasty) is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breasts to produce an aesthetically pleasing look and the confidence they deserve.
What Can Be Achieved With Breast Augmentation?
A Larger Bust
Women with small breasts can undergo breast augmentation using saline, silicone, or gummy bear implants to create a larger, more voluptuous bust that retains a natural appearance.
Breasts may have deflated or lost their attractive shape due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. Breast augmentation can correct this by adding volume and firmness to create a youthful breast shape.
A Balanced Figure
Patients who struggle with two differently sized breasts or breasts that are disproportionate with the rest of their figure can benefit from breast augmentation to achieve symmetry and balance.
Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
Women who desire breast augmentation will meet with Dr. Pincus for a consultation to discuss their goals and procedure options. Several factors, including your skin condition and chest measurements, will be used to determine the correct implant size, type, and placement to achieve your desired outcome.
Dr. Pincus uses Crisalix Virtual Aesthetics 3D imaging to show what your potential results will look like on your body with various implants options.
- FDA approved for women over the age of 18
- Filled with a sterile saltwater solution but with multiple silicone channels
- Feel more like a silicone implant than traditional saline implants
- Ruptures can be noticed immediately
Sientra® Silicone Implants:
- Made with a soft silicone shell pre-filled with silicone gel
- Feel more natural than saline implants
- Less likely to rupture than saline implants
- Ruptures may require an MRI to detect
- Made with a soft silicone shell filled with a saline solution during your procedure
- Feel slightly firmer than silicone implants
- Implant rippling is more likely to occur
Submuscular: Implants will be positioned under the pectoral muscle as well as the breast tissue. This technique is ideal for women with a small amount of natural breast tissue since the muscle tissue over the implants can camouflage any implant rippling or edges. Dr. Pincus prefers this implant location, but he will determine the best option for each patient.
Subglandular: Breast implants will be placed above the pectoral muscle and under the glandular tissue. This method is best performed on patients with enough breast tissue to effectively mask the implant edges.
The two most common incision techniques include the periareolar incision, which is placed around the areola, and the inframammary incision, which is made along the breast crease.
Crisalix Virtual Aesthetics
During your consultation, Dr. Pincus offers Crisalix Virtual Aesthetics, a state-of-the-art 3D imaging technology that renders photos of the patient’s body as a canvas to create the best possible pre-op visualization of their potential results. He will work closely with each patient so they can see what they might look like with different implant types, sizes, and shapes.
We are also excited to announce that we have exclusive rights to Augmented Reality Visualizer by Crisalix, a new concept in breast imaging. The Crisalix 4D Augmented Reality feature will enable the patient to discover themselves on a large screen, as if they are looking in a mirror that shows them with their augmented breasts.
Following your surgery, you will be advised to wear a compression garment to aid with swelling and keep you comfortable. Swelling and bruising should subside after three weeks but may last as long as a few months. Make sure to get plenty of rest and avoid bending or lifting. You will be able to return to work one week after your surgery, and you can resume regular exercise after six weeks.
Many patients report a boost in confidence as a result of the added volume and youthful contours provided by their breast augmentation.
Scarring will vary based on the technique used for your procedure. Any visible scars can be hidden underneath clothing and will likely fade over time.
